Dingle is one of my all-time favourite places in Ireland. Not only does it have an awesome name (c’mon, how fun is it to say you visited a place called Dingle?), but it’s absolutely adorable with plenty to see to keep you busy.Most people choose to visit Dingle as a day trip from Killarney or even Cork, but if you have the time I recommend staying over.

It would be easy to arrive on the Dingle Peninsula and not leave the town of Dingle itself. Bohemian, artistic, and genuinely friendly, Dingle is famed for its hardware pubs (where you can buy a pint and some wellies) and its local dolphin Funghi, who’s been resident in the waters here for decades. The Dingle Peninsula (Irish: Corca Dhuibhne; anglicised as Corkaguiny, the name of the corresponding barony) is the northernmost of the major peninsulas in County Kerry. It ends beyond the town of Dingle at Dunmore Head, the westernmost point of Ireland and arguably Europe. The town of Dingle sits on the edge of the Dingle Peninsula on the southwest coast of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Just a short ferry-ride from Dingle, you step onto the Blasket Islands, quietly, in a time long gone.
